It is a family restaurant with authentic seafood cuisine since 1981, specializing in rice, fish and seafood from the area. One of the most popular dishes is arroz a banda.
The arroz a banda is a typical rice dish from the coastal area of the province of Alicante. It is a typical Mediterranean rice, where from one dish you get two. Originally it was a fisherman’s dish, a broth or fish stock was made, usually “morralla” (fish with many thorns, little molla and strong flavor), “ñora” and “alioli”; with this broth, a separate rice (a banda) from the fish is cooked first and a stew with this broth in which the “alioli”, potato and crumbled fish float. It is known as caldero in some places like Tabarca island, Santa Pola, Torrevieja, Guardamar del Segura or Ibiza. It is customary for this rice to be served with a condiment called salmorreta.
